Get to know a safety officer.

Sergeant Zaragoza

Every year, the Central City Police Boosters celebrate LAPD and BID personnel during an annual Officer Appreciation Luncheon. As part of that event, we recognized Sergeant Edgard Zaragoza as South Park BID’s 2017 Officer of the Year.

Sgt Zaragoza has been with South Park BID since August 2015. When asked what he likes best about his job, he said “It’s a different thing every day. I like how diverse the district is — there’s entertainment, residential. You get a little bit of everything, and interact with different types of people. There are quiet spots down by the hospital, busy areas around Figueroa and Olympic, and residents over by Grand and 11th St. The atmosphere changes during every patrol.”

As a BID Ambassador, Edgard enthusiastically assumed and revamped the training process with a focus on personal and professional pride, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the District’s Safety Team. “His hard work ethic, professionalism, and dedication to the district show in his day to day actions” added Safety Program Manager Raul Lua, “Officer Zaragoza is a great asset to the South Park BID.”

We’re lucky to have Officer Zaragoza as part of our Safety Team! If you have any questions about clean & safe services, please reach out at wallis@southpark.la, or contact the service teams.
