Hello friends

A final message for us before we finish for our Christmas break. Here we’re sharing a few things to think about for 2023 including some a free coaching coaching — our gift to you — and how you can reflect, learn, develop and connect in 2023.

Start your year thinking about your goals

We are working, volunteering and leading in extraordinary times. The recent years have been extremely challenging for all of us. And now we’re facing another crisis. One that again affects our organisations, us and our teams, and the people and communities we serve.

We are offering free one to one coaching to give you time and space to think, plan, take action and learn. We hope this will help you cope with and respond better to change.

We’re offering 4.5 hours of free coaching to at least 14 people working for positive social change in the north east. We are using a simple application process and we will fill the places on a first come, first served basis. We expect the coaching to start in January 2023, and this will be great to help you start work on your 2023 goals.

The coaches are from the North East Coaching Collective, and qualified coaches and coaches in training from the Newcastle University MSc in Coaching and Mentoring to volunteer their time. We are grateful some of the coaches are able to support more than one coachee.

Who is it for?

The coaching support offer is for people

  • working or volunteering for a small VCSE organisation in the north east. By small, we mean organisations with a turnover of less than £250,000
  • working independently for social change in the north east

We want this support to reach those people most in need. It is aimed at those who struggle to fund paid support for you or your team.

To take part, fill in our simple sign up form by 10 January.

If you’d like to find out more before signing up, have a look at our brochure or get in touch with Robert robert@yeswecan.community.

Being a great trustee January 2023

We’ve been asked by Newcastle Carers to run our Being a great trustee programme for a few of their trustees in January. There are some spare places, and Newcastle Carers is keen for their trustees to meet and learn alongside other trustees so would like to extend the invitation to other organisations. The overview gives more information about the three sessions.

The programme is running Tuesdays 10, 17, 31 January 2023 16:00–18:00, online using Zoom. Each place costs £100; use our booking form to book your place.

NET Connect 2023 dates

NET Connect: bringing together North East Together members and network friends to connect, grow and nurture our relationships. Our 2023 dates for our regular short online gatherings are 14 February 2023 (bookings open) and 12 September 2023, both 16:00–17:15.

We’ll use guided networking to help us have a great conversation together…welcoming new members and reconnecting with existing members.

What helps when times are tough? programme from Thriving Communities

We’re working with the Thriving Communities Network hosted by VONNE in early 2023 on their What helps when times are tough learning and development programme. We’re offering action learning sets and online learning session…all fully funded so we’re just asking you to commit your time to take part. The Thriving Communities team would like us to extend an invitation for you to access this free programme starting in starting in January 2023.

Lead and manage: Best self, Great teams, Amazing together

We’re excited to be running a new leadership programme in spring-summer 2023 focusing on what we think is important for all of us in leadership roles — being your best self, being part of and leading great teams, and working on amazing things together.

The programme will be three full days — one for each of the three themes Best self, Great teams, Amazing together — and two half days to help us start and end well. These will be energising days to learn together — from us and each other — and give you time out of your every day to reflect on your own leadership and connect and build relationships with your peers. The cost of each place is £600.

The programme days and times are

  • 19 April, 12:30 for 13:00–16:00…Starting well — forming us as a learning community, learning about each other, building psychological safety and trust
  • 3 May, 9:30 for 10:00–16:00…Best self — how we can be our best self at work and in our leadership role
  • 7 June, 9:30 for 10:00–16:00…Great teams — what makes a great team and how we can contribute to our teams working well together
  • 5 July, 9:30 for 10:00–16:00…Amazing together — how we can work, learn and be amazing together in networks and collaborations
  • 19 July, 12:30 for 13:00–16:00 plus social time…Ending well — reflecting on our learning experience, planning our future learning and developing needs, and celebrating our achievements

We’ll share more about the programme content in January, we couldn’t wait to share these initial thoughts and dates. We also know Christmas can be a reflective time where you might be mulling over your plans for the year ahead.

If you’re interested in taking part and/or would like to find out more, email Robert. We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful festive period, however you spend it. For us we’re aiming for restful and restorative! We look forward to connecting with you all in 2023.
