Our DevOps Competence Center Lead about AWS: re:Invent 2023
This conference is a big deal, especially for tech introverts. Why? Well, it’s hosted by AWS, the largest cloud technology provider since 2006. This year, a whopping 65,000 participants showed up for more than 2000 sessions. The conference program is announced months in advance.
Adam Selipsky, the CEO of Amazon Web Services, kicked things off with a speech covering all the latest news and key insights in AWS. The attendees are mostly AWS clients and representatives from different companies. Despite the pricey tickets and difficulty in getting there, the sheer scale of the event makes it impossible to attend every session you want. It all comes down to your experience, knowledge, and interests.
One highlight for me this year was the Mercedes-Benz case. They shared how they use AWS to collect data from cars, revealing their architectural design and modern technology insights. Many other companies showcased their infrastructure using AWS, especially in the gaming industry, demonstrating how they connect data centers. AWS has also teamed up with environmental protection projects, helping equip cars for measurements in dangerous places.
Learning sessions covered various topics like Infrastructure as Code(IaC), IoT, Security, and Data Management. Experts from around the world, representing big companies like GitLab, HashiCorp, and GitHub, led these sessions. Being able to ask the creators of tools directly was an incredible opportunity.
AWS conferences have a unique system for attendees. If you’re an AWS certified user, you get access to special workshops. I even got involved in a program where I had to create questions for AWS certification. The networking is well-organized, with badges indicating your communication mood, and a chip for automated info exchange.
As a tech enthusiast, I’ve seen a lot, but every year at this conference, I discover something inspiring and surprising. Witnessing people find innovative solutions and improve existing technology is a huge motivation. It reassures me that our company is on the right path, adopting modern ways of working and implementing cutting-edge technologies in Georgia.
In conclusion, make the most of your resources to attend AWS events and gather as much knowledge as you can. Cloud technology remains a crucial tool for various tech processes, and that’s not changing anytime soon.
