For many people, a luxury hotel room is the perfect option while they travel. With multiple shower heads, plush bathrobes, and a stocked minibar, they’re set for the night.

For those of us who dream of being among the stars as those same stars wheel overhead, we want something a little different when we travel. We want The Martian, Interstellar, and Gravity on pay-per-view. We want astronaut ice cream on the room service menu. We definitely want our hotel room to have completely out-of-this-world design elements — if not complete aesthetic commitment.

Way more plush than the sleep options in space, here are nine space-themed hotels and suites you can book right now:

Sunset Inn & Suites, Clinton, Illinois, USA

Quite possibly the most immersive hotel option on this list, the Space Odyssey suite at Sunset Inn & Suites is 100% committed to the theme. From a custom bed to complete lighting and stars on every wall (and the ceiling, of course)… it doesn’t get much more outer space themed on this planet.

From $159 per night, reservations recommended.

Gold Coast Hotel, Hong Kong

Get the best of both this planet and the space surrounding it with the family-oriented Outer Space Room at the Gold Coast Hotel in Hong Kong. Keeping in line with the family friendly experience, this cozy room includes a telescope so you can cut through the light pollution and see the stars once the sun sets.

Availability and reservations on request by emailing the Gold Coast Hotel directly. Book on Hotels.com.

Fantasuites Hotel, Burnsville, Minnesota, USA

Truer to life than most space-theme rooms on this list, the Space Odyssey room at Fantasuites Hotel includes a replica Gemini capsule bed frame — perfect for two people, right? There’s also a jacuzzi ‘set’ in a crater, if you’re into that thing.

Permanently closed as of September 2017.

Fantasyland Hotel, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

As the name suggests, Fantasyland Hotel offers rooms in a variety of themes, but the best by far is obviously the Space Theme room. Who needs windows when you can look out over the surface of a foreign planet, and sleep beneath a celestial view?

From $318 per night, reservation recommended. Book on Hotels.com.

Chula Vista Resort, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, USA

In the whole world, there aren’t a ton of outer space themed hotel rooms — a shock, I know. This mostly-Outer Space themed room at the Chula Vista Resort is perhaps not as committed to theme as others on this list. Nonetheless, you’ll still get to sleep under a giant picture of Saturn each night, and there’s not much better than that.

From $319 per night, reservations recommended. Book on Hotels.com.

Queen Elizabeth Love Hotel, Tokyo, Japan

Rooted in a long and fascinating tradition, Japan’s Love Hotels may seem strange or disconcerting to those not familiar with the concept. Despite that, we’re confident space fans will feel right at home in this off-worldly room featuring stunning celestial artwork and a round bed.

Price unknown.

The Wanderlust Hotel, Singapore

Whimsical’ is the class of room offered by The Wanderlust Hotel that includes both the Red Spaceship and Blue Spaceship rooms — and the name is wholly accurate. These rooms both feature a floor-to-ceiling rocket, along with a few friendly alien guests to join you in the twinkling-lit room. It seems that the Red Starship was the first built, and the blue came along after it became apparent how popular space-themed stays really are.

From $161 per night, reservations recommended.

Kameha Grand Zurich Hotel, Switzerland

Space tourism is still locked away as an indulgence of the ultra-rich, and even those in the 1% need an earth-based space hotel room to splurge on. Enter the Space Suite at the Kameha Grand Zurich Hotel. Decorated with an ultimate commitment to extraterrestrial design, this stunning room makes you feel transported straight to the moon.

From $1600 per night, reservations required. Book on Hotels.com.

Silken Puerta América, Madrid, Spain

The single space themed room at the Silken Puerta América in Madrid, Spain was designed by famous British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid before her death in 2016. Unsurprisingly, it’s one of the most stunningly beautiful rooms on the list — and possibly on earth (even though you’ll feel like you’ve left it once you check in).

From $287 per night. Book on Hotels.com.

Barceló Sants, Barcelona, Spain

From the outside, you would never guess that the Barceló Sants holds any special interest to space-minded travelers. Inside, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into the International Space Station. Clean, white, bright design elements define the entire hotel — from lobby to rooms — as well as nods to famous space experiences like Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.

‘Orbital’ rooms from $95 per night. Book on Hotels.com.

Pengheng Space Capsules Hotel, Shenzhen, China

In an article full of hotels that push the boundaries of design and futurism, the Pengheng Space Capsules Hotel might be the most advanced — and potentially the most exciting. Staffed entirely by robots, this hotel has done away with ‘room’s in favor of sleeping capsules designed to mimic space life in both form and function. It’s a pretty out of this world experience!

From $13 for a single bed. Reservations recommended.

Galaxy Pod Hotel, Reykjavik, Iceland

Aboard space ships, we probably won’t get a whole hotel room to ourselves, and the Galaxy Pod Hostel gives you a glimpse of that future accommodation. You can choose a sleep pod in the 4-, 6-, 8-, or 24-bed dorm. Then crawl into your bod, slide the door shut, and slip off into space-filled dreams.

From $65 for a 24-bed sleeping pod. Reservations recommended.

The Sci-Fi Hotel, The Future

The Sci-Fi Hotel may still be a concept, but the design mock-ups suggest it’s going to be incredible experience. With current development options in the U.S., U.K., and U.A.E., the Sci-Fi Hotel will hopefully one day soon move from the realm of ‘fantasy’ to reality.
