Spacehop meets Haus at Sway
What is Haus at Sway and how did it all come about?
Haus transforms restaurants that are closed during the day into beautiful coworking spaces. Haus is going to be a network of workspaces around London where you can work alongside other early stage start-ups and freelancers. The first location is in Holborn and is just £100 per month.
Haus is about flexibility, quality and affordability, it was founded as a result of my own difficulties in finding comfortable workspace. Libraries are boring, coffee shops are distracting, coworking spaces are expensive. At the same time, restaurants that would make amazing workspaces are closed during the day. So that’s how the idea was born.
What sort of people are using the space?
The majority of our members are self-employed people, like freelancers, entrepreneurs and small startups. We also have couple of people who are working for established companies, and don’t have an office space in Central London. They use Haus for meetings and occasional team breakouts. The flexibility we offer in addition to an affordable price creates opportunity for our members to unlock value without committing to plans and expensive coworking spaces. I think what makes the community at Haus stand out is that the majority are just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey, so everyone is kind of going through same struggles and have the same life goals.
How would you describe the vibe as opposed to coworking or serviced offices?
The vibe is really cool. We play nice background music which I think is preferable to the silence you might be used to in some coworking spaces. At the same time, it is not as noisy as coffee shops.
We will limit number of memberships we sell per location, so there will always be plenty of room for everyone. Unlimited coffee, tea and snacks to help you stay focused throughout the day. We think it’s almost impossible to work in a coffeeshop after Haus.
Do you have plans for more spaces like this?
We plan to launch our second Haus location soon, in East End, so closer to TechCity. Stay tuned.
What do you think makes a great place to work?
Great place to work is beautifully designed space with no distractions, but at the same time productive buzz, unlimited coffee, tea, snacks, and nice community of like-minded people with the same life goals, with whom you can have a nice chat during the lunch break. You wouldn’t get this at home or in a coffee shop.
