A HOLIDAY MIRACLE
While the New Year may have gotten off to a rocky start with Spank Pay shutting down (more on that below), we are thrilled to report that we are back up and running and we want to assure our community that their assets are safe and sound! Before we get into those details, here’s some good stuff that happened before the hiccup.
Hoe, Hoe, Ho-liday photo contest
We kicked off the season of giving with a photo contest on Twitter, and awarded not one, not three, but six lucky winners $275 for a holiday-themed snap.
Thank you to all those who participated and congrats to our all winners. You may be on Santa’s naughty list, but you have a place in our hearts forever.
Long live SpankPay!
Just as we rang in 2023, SpankPay payments were indefinitely suspended due to the sudden shutdown of Wyre, our crypto custodian and banking partner. The only good news was that user balances were unaffected, and a withdrawal protocol was immediately put into place for people to recover their assets.
The shutdown was completely unexpected, and once again, we extend our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience or distress it may have caused. It was both heartbreaking and frustrating to watch SpankPay hit a major speedbump through no fault of its own, and that’s not to say we are blaming Wyre. On the contrary, Wyre helped us make it possible to secure uninterrupted access to your crypto access, and despite the sudden shutdown, we remain grateful for their years of dedicated service.
Days later, on Friday the 13th, of all days, we were back online as Wyre received additional funding that allowed them to resume business as usual.
We want to take this time to reassure our users that their assets are still safe, and while we are back online, we are not taking this incredible change of course for granted. Our number one priority is building a more robust system to prevent this sort of event from happening to the future. Thank you to our incredible community for your patience and trust during this time.
SpankMate of the Month
There was only one box we wanted to open this Christmas, and her name is Sheena Ryder.
