If you were to list the characteristics that make companies feel like “Spark investments,” at the top of that list would be a product experience so well designed that every attention to detail you uncover gets you more and more excited to a point where you awkwardly start laughing out loud. A product experience that leads you to that place where you are pretty sure you won’t be able to imagine your life before this product.

A close second on that list is all about the founder giving you that demo. Watching and listening to them gives you the sense that they were put on earth to build this product and company.

Brynn Putnam is a force of nature. From starting her fitness studios when she thought she could do better than the status quo to designing and building equipment for those studios after being frustrated by the limitations of what was out there. Finally leading her to buy a Raspberry Pi kit and hack together the first Mirror prototype as a way to reach as many people as possible, in their own homes, by removing the constraints of a studio.

Everyone wants to be healthy. The key is eliminating all of the excuses that present themselves like “I don’t have time.” Well, if you make it easy to workout at home then you can eliminate the travel part of that excuse. Or: “I don’t have enough space for the equipment.” Make a beautiful product that looks good in any room and doesn’t require a lot of space. Also: “I get bored of the same exercise routine.” Don’t make a bet on one type of exercise, by creating a platform that can handle the most popular studio classes plus whatever the next great workout trend will be.

After eliminating all of the excuses, making fitness interactive, personalized and fun is what separates Mirror. It tracks all of your activity, offers you live and on-demand classes, but since it has a built-in camera, it can even give you 1–1 instruction with real-time feedback. This is next level personal training.

We couldn’t be more excited about playing a role in what Brynn is building, and honestly, we can’t wait for Mirror to launch, so everyone can try the product that blew this team away.
