We’re thrilled to welcome Outreach to the Spark family as the lead investor in their $65M series D. At Spark, we’re big believers in the rapid pace of change that is happening with the software solutions people use at work. Not only are manual processes being replaced by software to drive efficiency and ROI; software is permeating every business process and re-imagining how enterprises communicate and collaborate, both internally and with their end customers. This opportunity has led us to our investments in companies like Slack, Trello, InVision, Pendo, and Carta.

While marketing teams have had software and automation tools for many years, revenue teams have lacked a platform to manage and automate their end-customer interactions. In today’s world, employees want and demand personalized experiences in the workplace, similar to those they receive as a consumer. While enterprises have CRM systems that function as customer databases, they lack context, automation, and data around interactions, creating blind spots in end-customer communications. Every company is becoming a software company, and as the software GTM has changed from selling to IT to business units and individuals, there are many more stakeholders in each customer relationship, further exacerbating this problem. Companies want to create seamless communication with their end-customers but they lack the ability to do so with today’s disparate systems, databases, and manual processes. This is a massive opportunity for Outreach.

Outreach provides the leading platform for revenue teams to manage and automate end-customer interactions, throughout the customer journey. Not only does Outreach touch every part of the customer lifecycle, they capture valuable data about each interaction, driving significant efficiency for revenue teams and becoming the system of record for all customer interactions. As Outreach is founded and led by an incredibly deep bench of talent, we couldn’t look past the immensely positive customer feedback — we spoke to dozens of Outreach customers and not only did they absolutely love the product, they couldn’t live without it. Additionally, while the Outreach platform drives significant ROI, it becomes a mission-critical software platform for revenue teams. It’s little surprise the company has seen incredible traction with their thousands of customers globally, such as Adobe, Cloudera, DocuSign, eBay, Zillow, among many others, and grew revenue by over 100% in 2017.

For those reasons and many more, we couldn’t be more excited to partner with Manny, Anna, Andrew, and the Outreach team in creating a category-defining company in the large and rapidly growing customer engagement market. We’re delighted to welcome Outreach and their team to the Spark Capital family.

P.s. Outreach is hiring!
