There’s no estate like New York real estate. With Springtime warming up the air around us, we wanted to take a look at some of the hottest new real estate developments coming to the New York market.

We’ve spent time recognizing the best of 2017’s real estate offerings in Canada and the U.S., but there’s just not enough room on the page to cover it all — especially when it comes to a real estate scene as lively as New York.

This time, we’re looking at some of the biggest and most exciting new developments hitting the big apple in 2018.

The Kent

Why it’s one to watch: elegant design and modern aesthetic

Neighborhood: Upper East Side
Developed by: Extell
Marketed by: Extell

Extell is well-known for their luxury residences, and The Kent is another exemplary entry into their distinguished portfolio.

This upcoming development draws inspiration from a modern art deco style — elegant, sophisticated, and bold. Each set of apartments will be clad in ivory or onyx color palettes, and accented with gold and silver to warmly compliment living spaces. In a city as fast-paced as New York, The Kent delivers on creating a lifestyle perfectly balanced between classic luxury and contemporary efficiency.

With three levels of amenities for wellness and entertainment, including a relaxation salon and state of the art theatre lounge, this up and coming development is the real estate development to watch for warm, approachable elegance.

EVGB

Why it’s one to watch: playing its part in a vibrant community

Neighborhood: East Village

East Village’s Greatest Building works hard to live up to its name. The building offers plenty of communal spaces, from a children’s playroom to a private lounge, from a serenity garden to a putting green. Each residence is designed with attention to the daily ins-and-outs of life, incorporating an inviting atmosphere with well thought-out amenities that make each apartment a home.

Most of all, EVGB provides a refuge right in the vibrant heart of New York. The lively energy of the neighborhood is reflected in the building, rich with the art, technology, and innovation that makes East Village such an exciting community in the cultural and real estate landscape.

Here, going big is going home.

Oskar

Why it’s one to watch: the story behind the build

Neighborhood: Midtown West
Developed by: Moinian
Marketed by: Bold NYC

Few organizations can say they have had a stronger influence on shaping a city than Moinian Group. The late Oskar Brecher directed their portfolio for many years before his passing, and now the group honors his memory with an upcoming development in midtown, officially named Oskar.

The building will be leased by Bold NYC. The partnership between Bold NYC and Moinain Group previously saw success using Spark’s end-to-end project management software, which helped them see all 1000+ units of the towering Sky building successfully leased. We’re eager to see how this will play out with Oskar, a boutique build which hopes to fulfil Oskar Brecher’s dreams of a very special residential building — “Not too tall, not too busy, very well designed and not pretentious.”

685 First Avenue

Why it’s one to watch: striking design in a central location

Neighborhood: Murray Hill
Developed by: Solow Building Company
Marketed by: Citi Habitats New Developments

An elegant, all-black building is rising on the banks of East River. The renowned Sheldon Solow of Solow Building Company raises the bar on residential design with 685 First Avenue.

While the building appears all-black from the outside, the interiors are transparent and offer an unparalleled view of the city. Overlooking East River, 685 First Avenue is incredibly central. It’s minutes away from some of the biggest landmarks and hotspots of the city. There’s access to the river, Grand Central Station, prominent social clubs, and the bustle of midtown. Good food, modern conveniences, and access to the city green make this one of the ones to watch in New York real estate this year.

19 Dutch

Why it’s one to watch: the beginning of a transformation

Neighborhood: Financial District
Developed by: Carmel Partners
Marketed by: Douglas Elliman

Nothing says New York like a skyscraper. And with 19 Dutch, Carmel Partners is introducing a brand new element to the classic Manhattan skyline.

When finished, this glass-clad building will be 762 feet tall. The first three floors will be dedicated to retail. Above that, there will be residential amenities like business rooms, a golf simulator, zen garden, and fitness center. Every unit will feature thoughtfully selected appliances, 9 foot ceilings and amazing views of the harbour from the Financial District.

That’s right — 19 Dutch is centrally located in lower Manhattan, and is poised to transform FiDi into a vibrant, 24 hour neighborhood. So not only is it one of the best up and coming developments in New York real estate, we believe it’s going to transform the area into a vibrant new downtown that’s going to be a big part of New York in the years to come.

At Spark, we’re #RealEstateNerds that make it our priority to keep watch on some of the most anticipated and innovative new developments around the world.

The New York real estate landscape is one of the liveliest markets out there, and we’re excited to see these new developments come to life!
