Vancouver, Canada Spark, a Vancouver-based startup bridging the real estate and technology sectors, has raised over $1 million in funding. Spark develops software for selling, marketing and managing new development real estate, from pre-sale condos and single family homes to master-planned communities. The company’s platform tracks and manages close to $10 billion of inventory (new developments) for its clients worldwide. Using this first round of funding, Spark plans to expand into other countries, focus on research & development and acquire new talent.

“Our goal is to make it easier and more efficient for developers and marketers to sell properties. A short time into our startup, my partner, Cody Curley, and I pivoted our business based on client feedback and market demand for smarter software to sell new developments,” explained Simeon Garratt, CEO of Spark.

“With the additional $1 million funding we will continue to provide well-designed and innovative business tools to help our customers streamline their sales process. This will ensure their clients have the best home buying experience.”

Spark’s vertical market software is currently used in more than six countries and manages hundreds of new home projects. In 18 months, the company has experienced an average monthly growth of 30 per cent.

With headquarters in Vancouver, one of the world’s hottest housing markets, the company started to secure local accounts with some of the city’s leading developers. Their first U.S. client was a popular New York-based company whose online and mobile app gives real-time national data to potential home buyers and renters. The high-profile account attracted the attention of developers in Eastern Canada and soon Garratt and Curley were writing contracts with national and global developers, brokerages, homebuilders and marketing agencies. Spark’s client list includes four of the top 10 new development brokerages in New York, a prominent developer in the United Kingdom with an extensive portfolio in central London and a Vancouver developer with 40 towers expected to be built within the next 10 years.

Co-founded in 2012 by real estate marketer Simeon Garratt and creative designer Cody Curley, this startup initially offered an online portal for people to discover luxury developments around the world. The company eventually rebranded as Spark, a Software as a Service (SaaS) product, simplifying the way new development real estate is marketed and sold. Spark’s technology brings value to its users by incorporating sales and marketing tools for the entire product life cycle of a new property — from listed homes and lead generation to customer conversation, inventory tracking, contract tracking, email marketing solutions and event management resources.
