Place of Knowledge, Fun, and Escape
Addicted to Books
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.

Nelly and Hannah’s Special Time
Nelly loves reading books and her mum bought her loads of them for her birthday. Her neighbor Hannah, a blind girl, is her age and is always sad because her little brother died. One day, Hannah came to Nelly’s house and heard her laughing as she read a book and she asked about it. Soon it became their special time. Hannah comes over and Nelly reads a book. They then spend time talking about the people in the books, and the places and things that happen. Sometimes they laugh and sometimes they cry, but they always have lots of fun.
Many people, myself among them, feel better at the mere sight of a book.

An Acrostic Poem
Be entertained or cry as you read,
Of adventures and awesome great deeds.
One page, two pages, be it a million,
Know this for sure, there is something to learn.
That’s the thing about books. They let you travel without moving your feet.

Free Verse Poem
So Much Gained to Share
They take me to places unknown
Lost in the pages I seek more
So much to learn, and new things to know
I keep finding treasures hidden within.
Words hold so much power
To inspire, to create, to crush
To instruct, to warn, or spread joy
Be mindful of how you use your words
Great words penned long ago
Of loves, pains, great feats, and victories
We share in the lives of others,
Both real and imagined
And as we draw from all this fountain
We owe it to those coming
To share the knowledge and wisdom we gained
To help them on their way.
Thank you so much for reading.
