What if we could switch our current consumption patterns?

For this 3rd edition of Solutions&Co, we have focused on circular economy, this new economic model breaks with the traditional pattern of linear production (produce, use, dispose), and redefines products and services to minimize both waste and other harmful outputs.

We’ve drawn up a list of 3 inspiring solutions responding to the climate, energy, environment issues from among the 50 business solutions shared by 20 of the greatest international media from all over the world, reunited for the event. This is the case of the initiatives of Native, Lean Energy Solutions Group and Russian Dandelion.

* NATIVE : Organic sugar in your coffee!

The Balbo Group has pioneered large-scale regenerative sugar cane production in Brazil, through it’s Native program. Sugarcane, one of the world’s thirstiest crops, significantly impacts the environment. Yet, Native’s sugar cane plantation has successfully transitioned to a circular model and remained highly productive and profitable.

* LEAN ENERGY SOLUTIONS : Kenya is going green!

Lean Energy Solution helps Kenyan organizations diversify their energy sources and opt for green energy options. One of its activities is the transformation of coffee husks and other vegetable waste into briquettes: thanks to their process, a factory can convert 80 tons of waste matter into 40 tons of briquettes per day, with a 25 percent reduction in energy expenses.

* RUSSIAN DANDELION : a flower to save the planet ?

To reduce dependency on the South-East Asian rubber trees, and avoid the catastrophic consequences for forests, primates and endangered birds, researchers are looking to the alternative solution called….. Russian dandelion! It is rich in high-quality natural rubber and was used by the Soviet Union in WW2 to produce army vehicle tyres. Is Russian dandelion the solution to sustainably sourced rubber?
