Toggle between the Standard and Custom tabs to see your questions in the different rounds. Each round is comprised of the Standardized and Customized questions that appear in each tab. They are separated for you (but not applicants) to make the organization a bit easier!

Construct your application questions based on a few things:

  1. The number of questions, you can accurately gauge the applicant without putting too much of a burden on them. I.e., you want to avoid asking for a complete diligence package in the first round.
  2. How many applications you want to receive.
  3. Do any of the standard questions fulfill the majority of the question you usually ask in your application.

The fewer questions you have in the first round, the more applicants will apply, and vice versa. If you want the maximum number of applications, go light on questions in the first round and follow up with more questions in the second round.

When it comes to Custom VS Standard, the rule of thumb is to lean towards using the standard question.

It helps alleviate some of the applicants’ burden and their number one complaint — filling out applications. The system will also leverage their profile through your collective, so maximizing the work they do before becoming a part of your collective will only benefit you.

Additionally, the system will prompt the applicants to answer the additional questions when you promote them to the next round. Sparkxyz sends an e-mail, and the applicant receives a notification, but if the questions are critical and time-sensitive, we suggest you also following up.

Let them know they can answer the questions under the “Application Management” navigation in the top nav bar.

If you want to see what the questions look like to a user, create a fake startup (under the startup top nav) or click your user icon (far right photo in the top navigation) to see all of the different sections, or review the below screenshots.

We’ve highlighted a few of the sections that are not paragraph based:
