12th December — Jessica Amies
Sparrho Advent Calendar
Our today’s Sparrho Hero is Jessica who is a Postdoc at the Australian National University. She is particularly interested to explore the causes of climate change by studying the change in sea-level which occurred between approximately 0.7 and 1.2 million years ago.
Jessica is a co-winner of the Sparrho’s Researcher Prize in December 2017. By writing a brilliant summary and pinning enough scientific papers to her pinboard, Jessica has proven herself as a true expert in her field and was therefore granted the Early Career Researcher Prize by our jury.
That is really cool: To conduct her research, Jessica uses sediment cores drilled from the seafloor, which are created from material building up at the bottom of the ocean over millions of years.
