This month, we have two young scientists who are separated by 15,000 km and 9.5 hours, but united by their exciting research and passion for science communications. Congratulations to our November Early Career Researcher Prize winners, Eva and Brenton, who are receiving £500 towards attending a conference of their choice!

Eva Garmendia

Eva Garmendia is a PhD student at Uppsala University, Sweden, specialising in the study and characteristics of bacteria.

“My research gives us the foundational knowledge of how things work and answers the “why” questions about the world that surrounds us.”

Brenton Hordacre

Brenton Hordacre is NHMRC Early Career Research Fellow at the University of South Australia, researching new ways to protect the brain from stroke trauma.

My passion is to improve our understanding of the brain to help tailor individual therapies to a patient so that they can make a more complete recovery and enjoy life.”

Brenton will speak at the 10th World Congress for NeuroRehabilitation in Mumbai, India in February 2018.
