To call the Malta Blockchain Summit big is to say nothing. Expected to host 5,000 attendees, yet 8,500 showed up.

Of course, with the Prime Minister of Malta herself headlining the A-list of speaker that included the outspoken cryptoinfluencer, John McAfee, it isn’t hard to see why the Summit was so popular.

Still, the sheer number of people coming to Malta in the middle of a prolonged bear market in cryptocurrencies suggests that it’s not just about the price of Bitcoin, that there is strong underlying interest in blockchain technology, in the improvements it promises for a number of industries, and in addressing the challenges faced by developers, users, investors, and others.

The Summit had something for everyone. Developers enjoyed the intense hackathon. Anyone with any doubt about the health of the ICO ecosystem was treated to a robust ICO pitch competition (in which Spatium, of course, presented our keyless signing of transaction and the unhackable multiservice platform we built around it).

There were in-depth expert panels on a wide range of issues that included regulation, prevention of fraud, security of wallets and exchanges, blockchain experience for the consumer, how cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies are changing the financial services landscape, and more.

Not least of all, there were booths on the exhibition floor with the most interesting projects from all over the world coming to Malta to introduce the audience to their innovative approaches to and implementation of blockchain technology.

The Spatium team was there in full force, including the CEO, Geray Yusifov, our Co-Founder/Idologist, Yuri Hotovy, our Security Architect, Aleksei Ivanou, and our Marketing Director, Margo Bagdanova. This way, we were able to meet the high traffic of visitors to our booth, each team member taking lead on the questions about the technology, market plan, ICO, ecosystem, etc.

With events of this size, having a big team onsite is a very smart decision to avoid making people wait: each visitor wants (and deserves) attention.

As productive as the conference floor was for demonstrating how Spatium ushered in a new level of security and convenience for wallets and the entire ecosystem, Malta wouldn’t be Malta if the official agenda wasn’t supplemented with invite-only networking on private yachts.

Between the conference itself and the private afterparties, the Spatium team made a number of interesting connections with potential partners for collaborations, integrations, B2B solutions, and more.

Because our team researched the Malta Blockchain Summit well in advance and prepared a strong showing in terms of team, materials, updates, and meeting opportunities, we were able to take full advantage of the Summit’s potential. The biggest lesson here is to be prepared and really believe in your mission. Luckily for us, everyone wants to “crypto securely.”
