Dark Places

I am prone to slip into dark places -
Tight spaces
that cinch
my mind
Clamp down on my thoughts
And bind
me in fear.
On the same token, I am gifted with light
With sight
that brings hope
Where darkness
lingers
It’s fingers
slipping,
Its grasp faltering
As I recognize
Its deception
Perception
Such a tricky, tricky
Little thing
A simple thought
To cling
to…
One tiny glimmer of glitter
Emerging from the depths of my
soul
To remind me that I am
whole
When shadows block the sun
I find a way to shine.
