9 Best Things On The Internet This Year

We all know the Internet has many riches, and this year has been better than most. We have seen the Meme Renaissance with our own two eyes, and we loved it.

9. That tweet about a guy being stuck in a tent bag

The tweet sent the Internet into an uproar — the police were contacted, T in the Park management must have torn their hair out, and journalists tried to contact him. (It was false.)

8. The ducks.

The ducks, they terrify.

7. A Day With Spongebob Squarepants

One of the most beautiful things the Internet has to offer are stories like these; a milkshake of obsessive fandoms, mystery, and nostalgia pack a powerful punch. Andy Crush’s reporting leaves no stone unturned in this vitally important story about a bootleg Spongebob Squarepants movie.

6. Pepe the Frog

Do we even have to talk about Pepe? His rags-to-riches tale is iconic: from a small, indie comic in 2005 to, ten years later, one of the rarest — yet most popular — memes. The appeal of Pepe is evident as soon as you lay eyes on him; his grotesque face appeals to man on a primal level, and it’s as good a blank canvas as humanity has ever found.

5. Dogspotting

Though technically not of this year, dogspotting deserves a spot on this list. Come on, you spot dogs.

4. This website where you can design dildos.

It’s classic fun to take a website designed for one purpose and misconstrue that — but usually the purpose is innocuous, and misconstrued as dirty. This may be the only chance we get to have it the other way round.

3. This article about someone going to Hell and surviving. (Also known as watching a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie marathon.)

There are some little kids here whom I swear weren’t present during the night. I can only assume we’ve been here for so long that couples have actually met, had sex, and spawned over the course of this marathon.

2. Sex Fantasies 5 & 6

Sophia Foster-Dimino’s eerily perceptive “Sex Fantasies” series regretfully passed the halfway mark this year — but we should rejoice in the fact we probably have two more years left. (This year seems to be about couples where the previous years weren’t. I wonder what 2016 will bring.)

1. The girl who sticks her face in bread.

There’s an enigmatic appeal to this unnamed girl: her identity is a blank canvas. Though there’s speculation of this being a “fetish thing”, to my mind she just loves sticking her face in bread. And that seems true (though she did make a strange grunt in one of her videos, but that could be for any reason...).
