Shadi Petosky is an animator for, among others, Parks & Recreation, Yo Gabba Gabba! and The Aquabats Super Show. That isn’t what this story is about, but I thought it was important: her life is devoted to making people happy.

She’s also transgender, and tweets about her struggles finding work, transgender representation and, up until yesterday, her Disney trip with her mother.

Here, pieces should be connecting. There’s only one thing that could be writing about if a trans woman is travelling.

She was embarrassed,

misgendered, and

forced away from the public eye.

The AA manager then cisplained travelling to Shadi.

AA’s Twitter then contacted Shadi, but it seems that it was more of a publicity move.

But, finally, she got through.

However, it’s important to remember that just because one person’s problem is solved, not everyone’s is.

So here’s Special Snowflake’s call of action: by devaluing trans bodies through cisnormative lenses, the TSA has committed an act of violence against all trans people. We demand the TSA give all their agents training on all bodies, be they disabled, trans, intersex — or something else entirely.
