While many of us in America have been focused on celebrating the 4th of July holiday this week, our friends over in Europe have some great news I wanted to share with all of you.

Europe’s leading international news channel has teamed up with Special Olympics in Europe-Eurasia to showcase two public service announcements to their millions of global viewers. Having the support of global media like Euronews, which broadcasts to more than 350 million households in 155 countries, is an incredible means of support to help us raise awareness for Special Olympics.

These free-of-charge broadcasts, that will run several times daily, will highlight two Special Olympics athletes. The first spot that will air from now through September is “Encourage Omar” — a great piece, produced by international ad agency JWT, that features Special Olympics Great Britain gymnast Omar Haddad. The second spot that will air from September to November is “See the athlete first (Skeleton)” — which features Mario Ogunbowale, a Special Olympics athlete from Wisconsin, playing basketball, and produced by international agency BBDO Worldwide.

If you haven’t already seen these two public service announcements, click on the links above to check them out — and if you’ve already seen them, go back and watch Omar and Mario again. They are just two of our 4 million athletes worldwide, who show that Special Olympics can reveal the human spirit in all of us through the power of sports!
