Special Olympics Youth of the Week: Kelsey Richards and Hannah LoVerdi
The following post was written by Kelsey Richards and Hannah LoVerdi, a Special Olympics Unified pair from Special Olympics New Hampshire. In July of 2018, Kelsey and Hannah attended the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle to participate in the Youth Leadership Experience (YLE). Along with Unified pairs from across the country, Kelsey and Hannah were chosen for the YLE because of their leadership skills and passion for inclusion. Congrats on being named the #SOYouthOfTheWeek!
My name is Hannah LoVerdi and I represent Special Olympics New Hampshire! Attending the Youth Leadership Experience at the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games was an amazing opportunity. I really enjoyed meeting people from all over the country who share the same ideas as Kelsey and me. The experience allowed me to move out of my comfort zone by participating in events that also gave me ideas to bring back to my state and school.
I really LOVED being part of the Healthy Athletes Strong Minds program, and I look forward to getting high school students around our state more involved. I had a fantastic time — I never stopped smiling for the entire trip! I looked forward to every activity.

My name is Kelsey Richards, and I also represent Special Olympics New Hampshire! My favorite part of the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games was being part of the Youth Leadership Experience. I made so many new friends from all around the country. I enjoyed all of the activities but one of my favorite ones was job shadowing Kelsey Sullivan from our delegation. I loved taking photos and being part of the Special Olympics New Hampshire team. I especially loved Opening Ceremony and Tim Shriver’s message to all the YLE leaders during our opening session. This is the best experience of my whole life. Thank you!
