Hopefully you’ve had the chance to see our amazing new PSA from P&G featuring Special Olympics Michigan athlete Molly Hincka and her mom Kerry. The video is an amazing testament to our Special Olympics mothers who fight everyday to ensure their children fulfill their dreams.

If you haven’t seen the video PSA, you must check it out:

Last Thursday, Molly, Kerry and Special Olympics CEO Tim Shriver hit New York to spread the word about the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games and the Thank You, Mom campaign. They visited Fox’s Good Day New York (see the clip) and had a blast exploring New York City and meeting celebrities and local television personalities. Molly put up a collection of great photos on her Facebook page (Support Molly Hincka — Greece is the Word), so definitely check out the fun-filled photo album with more great photos like this one:

Along with some of our amazingly supportive mom bloggers, I had the chance to hear Molly, Kerry and Tim Shriver speak about the campaign and their experiences with Special Olympics. I was awed and inspired my Molly’s commitment and dedication to her sport (running). She’ll be competing in the 3,000m, the 5,000m and the 4x400 meter relay in Greece this summer and to prepare, she runs about 10km every day. And she’s running fast — her fastest 5k time is 28:17 (beats me any day)! When we asked why she likes to run, she joked “because I have long legs” but continued on to say that the sport made her feel good everyday! Running is such a great sport (for both mental and physical fitness), so it’s great to see another athlete finding peace and happiness through running.

Working for Special Olympics, I have the opportunity to meet a lot of amazing Special Olympics athletes, and Molly is no exception. She’s a role model for people with and without intellectual disabilities because of her determination and dedication. I love what Tim Shriver had to say about Molly — “When people talk about the ‘real’ Olympics, they’re talking about courage, determination and the human spirit. Molly Hincka is a real Olympic athlete, no asterix needed.”

I also wanted to share other blog posts about Molly, Kerry and the Thank You, Mom campaign. Definitely worth a read:

***We need your help to spread the word about this fantastic campaign! Tell everyone you know to visit the Thank You, Mom Facebook Page. For every visitor that “likes,” shares or leaves a comment on the Facebook page, P&G will donate $1 to support Special Olympics Team USA’s journey to Athens, up to $250,000.***
