Woodstock Academy, located in Woodstock, Connecticut celebrated No R-Word day by holding our annual No R-Word Campaign during the same week. We decided that this was the best way to spread awareness and connect our student body with this national day. When students say the R-Word, it can be very hurtful to others around them. This is why we spread awareness and stand up for the respect that people with intellectual disabilities deserve. From experience, I would take the time to stop the user and respectfully educate them on the hurtful meaning of the word. To be a leader in the No R-Word campaign, you must take action and begin to organize events to spread awareness in your community.
