It was a double treat for Special Olympics Goa, India, athletes and coaches as they were specially invited by the Goa Football Association (GFA) to watch two friendly matches featuring the Zambian National Team on 26 and 29 November 2011. The GFA took the opportunity to include Special Olympics Goa athletes in its Golden Jubilee celebrations, to honor their achievements at the World Games, International and National sports meets throughout the year.

The Zambian National Team played the GFA’s Goa Team in its first friendly, and went up against All India Football Federation’s India Team for the second match at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Fatorda-Goa.

The Goa athletes and coaches enjoyed GFA’s warm hospitality, meeting GFA Vice President Mr. Elvis Gomes, cheering on the teams and clapping along the live music performances. The event was also attended by key officials in Goa’s government, including the Chief Minister of Goa Mr. Digamber Kamat, Sports Minister Mr. Manohar Azgaonkar, Executive Director of Sports Authority of Goa, Mr. Prabhu Dessai, Deputy Speaker Mr. Mauvin Godinho and Mr. Joaquim Alemao.
