Despite the difficulties of 2020, Specle managed to make giant strides with respect to its integration with the PADN network which has simplified the ad validation process for all our customers. The Publisher Advertising Data Network (known as PADN) streamlines our customers’ workflows by allowing for bookings from integrated publishers, such as News UK, Daily Mail Group, and Telegraph Media Group, to be automatically connected to Specle specifications.

When our clients or their media buyers book ads with publications, varying from The Times, Saturday Telegraph, to i Newspaper and dozens more, they will receive a URN (Unique Reference Number). This number directly corresponds to your booking so that the publisher can identify what is being uploaded and when, which eliminates the need for copy chasing calls and emails. This URN will be associated with the email address used at the time the booking was made.

To get you started, you can find your bookings under the new Bookings Tab, visible for users once logged in. This section will present you with all the bookings you have for that day, week and overall.

Furthermore, this tab will list the following information about your booking:

  • URN for the booking
  • Publication
  • Specification
  • Deadline Date
  • And whether the ad has been approved or rejected by the uploader.

When the user sees a booking they recognize under this section in Specle, they can click ‘Confirm’. This will then send a notification to the publisher to inform them that you acknowledge the booking and are going to upload your copy. If, however, you do not recognise this booking, you will also have the option of the ‘Reject’ button. This will let the publisher know that you will not be uploading the booking listed.

Alternatively, users can also upload their ad to these publications via the normal method and attach the URN right before sending. This procedure is made available once the user has uploaded and the button “Match to Booking” will appear for you to find your booking and/or enter your URN. This can be useful when the user is unsure about the URN yet still wants to preflight their ads so that they are ready for delivery. Once users have clicked on “Match to Booking”, they will be able to select the URN from a dropdown list, or by typing it in.

Users can also add their PADN bookings to campaigns in the Campaign Tool after approving the insertion and clicking ‘Add to Campaign.’

The PADN system makes pre-flighting and uploading files to the correct publications easier than ever. Going forward, we want to provide an even smoother and more reliable ad delivery process for our customers and publishers.
