Specle now supports proofing via Dropbox!
Our team has just developed and released a Dropbox integration that lets agencies automate proofing by connecting their Specle account to Dropbox.
Our previous solution was the on-site Specle Local box, an integration that combined our campaign management tool and cloud-based preflighting and delivery service with the agency’s own colour-conversion and proofing solutions. And while this was successful for several years, it became clear that with our growing customer base the product could not scale as required.
With the development of Specle Colour — a cloud-based colour-conversion product we launched in November 2016 — we decided to revisit the Specle Local solution. Specle Colour automatically performs high-quality colour conversion and amends ads according to publisher specifications. For many of our agencies, large parts of the production process could now be done in the cloud, and it only became necessary to provide a mechanism to deliver proofs into the local agency environment. However, we have also made this integration available to agencies who are not Specle Colour subscribers, and who wish to connect to their proofing solution via Dropbox. We decided to use Dropbox as an integration tool as cloud-to-local-file syncing is one of its core offerings. Choosing Dropbox also meant we could avoid server maintenance issues, necessitating input from both us and the agencies to identify and correct potential problems.
We also took the opportunity to standardise and refactor the proofing process, and it is now possible to set up Specle Campaign, Specle Colour, and Dropbox proofing within 20 minutes. Specle Campaign is a cloud-based platform for browsing specs, hosting media schedules, preflighting artwork, and delivering ads, and centralises the ad delivery process for large brands and agencies.
