New Features from Zeplin

This week, Zeplin announced its new features with a live event. They say that more than 6 million designs are posted on Zeplin every month now. For this reason, they revealed the innovations that will help many Zeplin users around the world, and we wanted to write about the three newly added functions.

We will discuss 3 newly added functions in this article.

  • Component Variants
  • Notifications Experience
  • Zapier Integration

Component Variants

The most important factor for designers to choose Zeplin is that the whole team can easily follow the stages and final form of their designs by using Styleguides containing many components.

Especially for Figma users, the new feature seems to be very useful. In the past, it was not clear whether the components were related or not. Thanks to the new feature Compound Variants, the relationship between components can now be defined directly.

This feature has been developed to analyze a specific set of components quickly, and users will be able to edit definitions such as the variant name and variant properties. At the same time, they have prepared style sheet snippets for components that are smarter than existing ones.

Support for Figma Variants
Zeplin will now provide native support for the Figma Variants feature as well. Variants created in Figma can now be quickly distributed with the plugin. In this way, developers will be able to see each variant’s properties and switch between components.

Notifications Experience

The second innovation is the notifications. With the renewed notification feature, notes and design changes between the team have become separate sections. Users will now be able to see a preview of the design element while reviewing their team’s notification. Notifications can be filtered, and users will have the option to filter notifications by project, contact, and note color. At the same time, it is now possible to respond to notes from the team without closing the notification screen.

Zapier Integration

The third innovation is the new integration with Zapier. As many of you already know, Zapier is a brilliant automation tool that folks everywhere use to create custom workflows. This integration was realized for those in the teams who do not know the Zeplin API. Without a development background, teams will now be able to automate workflows. Brilliant examples of these are Automated Creation of Jira Ticket and Language Translation. A Zap can now generate a Jira ticket when a note with #ticket is given. Or another Zap can translate comments from English to Turkish for teams speaking in different languages using the #translate tag. So with Zeplin, communication between teams is now easier than ever.
