Audio Shortcodes with WordPress
Quickly summarise your WordPress posts with text to speech
Today we’re releasing a new feature to the SpeechKit WordPress plugin (Version 2.7.6). Audio Shortcodes allow WordPress newsmakers to quickly select text from their articles for audio extraction. Perhaps you’d like to skip some extended commentary or emphasis a few key paragraphs in your article for audio. This feature provides just that is a few clicks.
To get started, with Audio Shortcodes install the latest version of the plugin from the WordPress plugin store. Once installed, you may choose to highlight text ready for audio conversion whilst editing your post before publishing.
When highlighted, head to the formatting toolbar in the WordPress editor and find the small down arrow for “More Rich Text Controls”. Select 🔈SpeechKit from the options.
This will place two shortcodes in the text, [SpeechKit-Start] and [SpeechKit-Stop], and don’t worry these won’t be seen in your article. These wrappers will pick up the text places between them and send them to SpeechKit for processing. Go ahead and mark a few sentences or paragraphs through the article to be picked out for the audio version.
To finish up just hit publish, or schedule like you would any other post and your audio summary will be sent for text to audio processing. Moments later, the player will appear at the top of the article, audio ready.
