After a successful edition of The Marketplace Conference in San Francisco earlier this year, the Marketplace Conference returns to Berlin on November 19th with the goal to support entrepreneurs building the marketplaces of the future. [Secure your ticket]

Selected speakers and attendees for The Marketplace Conference 2019

We are happy to take the next step on our journey that we started together with Autotech Ventures in early 2018, in order to fill an obvious gap in the tech-startup event landscape: offering a platform to marketplace entrepreneurs of all stages to exchange know-how and best practices in an open and intimate atmosphere.

The Marketplace Conference provides a platform for marketplace entrepreneurs and investors to exchange know-how and best practices for building the marketplaces of the future.

We are excited to, once again, team up with Battery Ventures. Together we strive to deliver a “content-first” event. As we are not in the conferencing business, we do not focus on making money, but instead on creating great content around specific, tangible marketplace-related lessons learned and insights. In addition, we want to make sure that every attendee has the opportunity to establish meaningful connections with other marketplace founders and investors.

Over 30 content sessions scheduled for The Marketplace Conference

The full-day conference will take place at Cafe Moskau in the heart of Berlin (close to Alexanderplatz) where 3 separate stages will host a total of more than 30 sessions throughout the day. The program is centered around four main ‘content-tracks’ — Strategy, Operations, Growth, and Fundraising — and will be delivered through 30 min long and highly in-depth presentations, panels, and fireside chats.

While we’re busy finalizing the schedule (make sure to keep an eye on our brand-new website), these speakers and contributors are already confirmed:

  • Lawrence Leuschner, CEO and Co-founder TIER Mobility
  • Rika Christanto, COO and Co-founder OnTruck
  • Joerg Gerbig, COO Takeaway.com
  • Carolina Brochado, SoftBank
  • Emil Martinsek, CMO GetYourGuide
  • Robin Daniels, CMO WeWork
  • Ruthie Amaru, CMO Freightos
  • Luca Bocchio, Accel Partners
  • Alex Williamson, former Chief Brand Officer Bumble
  • Mark Lawrence, CEO and Founder SpotHero
  • David Nothacker, CEO and Co-founder Sennder
  • Juan Urdiales, CEO and Co-founder JobandTalent
  • Chris Tsakalakis, CEO Vivino
  • Mirjam Techt, Speedinvest x

  • Naren Shaam, CEO and Founder Omio(formerly known as GoEuro)
  • Ameet Ranadive, CPO GetYourGuide
  • Florence Aretz, Adevinta (formerly known as Schibsted Marketplaces)
  • Roger Lee, Battery Ventures
  • Melissa Morris, CEO Lantum
  • Jose Marin, FJ Labs
  • Mostafa Kandil, CEO Swvl
  • Polina Montano, COO and Co-founder JobToday
  • Rafe Offer, CEO and Co-founder Sofar Sounds

Collectively, the companies on stage have raised billions of dollars in funding, while the individual speakers have been involved with more than 50 marketplace companies. This is an incredible pool of marketplace know-how that we want every attendee to tap into!

Meet marketplace investors for your startup

As The Marketplace Conference is an event primarily targeted at marketplace entrepreneurs, we want you to get the most out of it. Therefore, just like last year, you will have the opportunity to meet marketplace investors by attending their office hours.

Several attending VCs have already signed up to host these 1:1 sessions. For the first time, there will be a networking app to facilitate Investor 1:1 sessions as well as networking with conference attendees throughout the day. Attendees will receive all the details after securing a ticket for the event.

Be quick and don´t wait to get your ticket!

Thus far, all previous The Marketplace Conference events have been sold out well in advance. E.g. the last Berlin-edition was fully sold out more than 2 weeks before the event. We, therefore, recommend buying tickets early in order to not miss out.

For this edition, we have slightly increased the size of the venue and can accommodate a few more people. At the same time, we deliberately want to keep it a smaller event to maintain an intimate atmosphere that offers great opportunities to network and meet other attendees.

In the spirit of keeping a great balance between attendees, we reserve ~75% of all available tickets for marketplace entrepreneurs. The remaining allocation is set aside for investors (~20%) and some selected corporates (~5%).

The Marketplace Conference — a strong partnership

The Marketplace Conference in Berlin will mark the 5th time we have put together a marketplace-centric event. This is not an easy feat: we are therefore very grateful for the support we get from all event partners and sponsors.

Our co-organizers Autotech Ventures and Battery Ventures have been instrumental in bringing together the line-up for this year’s event.

Without the financial support of our event sponsors Singular, Mangopay, Adevinta, and Bsurance we would not have been able to get this event off the ground.

Last but not least, our friends at Point Nine Capital and Market One Capital have been supporting us on numerous occasions throughout the years.

We are looking forward to another great edition of The Marketplace Conference on November 19th in Berlin. We hope to see you there.
