The year 2021 marks the 110th anniversary of the first International Women’s Day. Celebrated on the 8th of March annually, people around the world commemorate the social, political, economic, cultural innovations of women on this global day.

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2021, we have conducted an interview series where we profile some of our Super Women behind MatchMove. For today, we have Anne Teow, our fabulous Executive Assistant and all around excellent office manager!

Do not regret the choices that you make. — Anne Teow

What’s your story and how did you get involved with MatchMove?

I was working part time with UOB after the birth of my child and I chanced upon a job opening with MatchMove. I applied and was called in for an interview in the afternoon to support the leadership team with office and team management. Went for the interview and was offered the position on the spot. I was impressed how they made decisions fast. The rest is history!

What do you like about working in MatchMove?

The people — colleagues and management. They give me a sense of belonging and inclusiveness in the group. No politics, no backstabbing. We trash it out (respectfully!)!

Name one of your most memorable learning experiences at work.

Our company is very diverse and encourages remote working — we have offices everywhere there’s a computer and an internet connection. That makes keeping a handle the office and the team a big hassle, but I have learned how to calculate time zones super quick.

How do you overcome work stress?

I take a break to not think about it and come back to it later. Some time off gives me a new perspective and a better grasp of the situation to overcome whatever challenge there is.

Can you share one exciting project (outside of work) that you’ve done/or currently working on?

During COVID, my 6 year old boy was stuck at home with virtual schooling. Balancing work and at-home schooling, and coming up with after-school activities was crazy. But we’ve had a lot of fun and lots of excitement!

Looking back, what advice would you tell your younger self?

Do not be afraid to admit or make mistakes. Take it in stride and learn from it.

Do not be afraid to ask — no matter how silly or stupid your question might sound.
