How To Display Relevant Ads In Emails Based On What Customers Buy

Using Spently’s ‘Smart Ad’ component on your Order Confirmation email template, you’re able to better personalize your customers buying experience by rewarding them and tailoring your messaging. In turn, this will lead to higher engagement and ROI. For example if a customer purchases a high value item, you can reward them by offering a special discount on their next purchase, or by attaching a relevant message such as product care instructions. This allows you to better personalize your notification emails based on what people are purchasing.

You’ll want to start by creating a new Order Confirmation template, or selecting one you previously created to edit. Once you’re in the template builder, you’ll want to look at the Drag & Drop components on the right, and drag the ‘Smart Ad’ component on to your template.

Once you drag it on to your template, you will notice the Smart Ad Settings on the right. The first setting is the ‘Default Image Source’ and ‘Default Link’. This image will be displayed if any product is purchased on your site, other than the products you specify in the following settings.

This is where it gets fun. Next, you’re able to select ‘Product 1’ from a dropdown menu where it shows all your products in Shopify. After selecting your desired product, its time to upload an ad or image that you’d like displayed when that product is purchased. When this product is purchased it will show the Product 1 Image and Link you relate to it.

You can then select ‘Product 2’ and upload a ‘Product 2 Image Source’ and ‘Product 2 Link’ that will display if that particular product is purchased.

At the bottom of the Settings, you can easily toggle between the three various promotions to see how they look.

This is a great way to communicate to customers that buy specific products from your store. You may not want to offer the same promotion to a customer that buys one product over another, and this is a feature that will help you communicate to your customers in a more personalized way and help you generate additional sales.
