The Crone Archetype As She Appears In The Tarot & Beyond

I believe it is with Cronehood as it is with everything else in life truly worth having or writing about — witch, you’ve gotta work for it. The metaphysical crown of wisdom and attainment with which cronehood beckons isn’t automatically going to sprout from your skull just because you grow up, or because you have an epic epiphany or two along the way.

If you want to carry the crown of the Crone, you’ve got to forge it for yourself, piece by piece, day by day, using the steel of your resolve and the crystallised magick of whichever vision you’ve conjured up from the deepest (darkest) recesses of your soul.

Who told you you were in for an easy ride?

The definition of the Crone which I’ll be going by here is this; a person who, irrespective of age, gender, or any other part of that rusty old song and dance, truly knows who they are, where they’re headed, and what they stand for. The Crone, cloaked in an aura of irrefutable power, mystery and integrity, pursues a singular vision through any terrain that appears in front of them. The Crone also doesn’t give the most miniscule of fucks about what you or anyone else thinks of them or their choices and pursuits. That’s how they reach their goals — by following the guidance of their own inner voice…
