In these extraordinary times, the challenges are plentiful. Many are juggling life/work balance in completely new ways, often home schooling their children while managing a crisis in their companies. We’re all bombarded with news and social media from scary charts to tips for working from home — it feels like the whole world has over night become experts in pandemics and remote digitalization.

The learning curve we’re all in the middle of is a tough one. We’re learning that digital tools have very real limits. That physical emotional intelligence works different behind a screen. That some formats of working is surprisingly more efficient when isolated.

“Stage 1 — Denial”
During the last month, digital solutions have been embraced in whole new ways. We’re all scrambling to bridge the time while our societies are in different levels of shut down. It’s scary not to know what is happening, how long it will be going on and how it will effect us. But that is the situation at the moment. The one mistake we shouldn’t make is to expect everything to go back to “normal” again. What if instead of bridges we built a new foundation?

The reality is that we don’t know when this crisis will be over — and when it is, we have the next one in the form of climate change over our heads. So let’s use the opportunity to form new habits, explore new spaces and do what we do better in the future. Let’s use this crisis as a platform for accelerating innovation.

When everything is going as planned, we feel bogged down with “daily business”. But now, much of our daily business has gone away has been reduced or radically changed its nature. And if we’ve learned anything working in the business of innovation the last decade it is that whenever the rules change and the world is turned upside down, when we’re disoriented and our society as a whole is challenged — that is the primetime of innovation.

“Learning live”
At Spielfeld, we’ve spent our time and effort into transforming our event-based formats to sustainable digital formats. In the coming weeks we’ll open the doors to our online innovation tribe. A mix of formats to help you take a deep dive into innovation like never before. And we’ll put in effort to keep these interesting even after the nationwide quarantines are loosened up. We believe that our take on isolated innovation will offer value long after COVID19 has relaxed its grip on us.

Join us and use this disruption to reflect and move towards action. Revisit the ideas you created with your colleagues at that one off-site last summer. Spend some time creating a prototype of that one project that keeps popping up. Learn new tools that help you navigate change and work well under volatile conditions. Focus on how to not only regenerate your organization, but how to grow it into something more valuable.

We hope you’ll join us and look forward to exploring and executing new ideas together with you!

We’ll post updates on Linkedin and Facebook, so follow us on those channels to keep up to date.
