Mobility Innovators at Spielfeld
When it comes to mobility, autonomous vehicles, delivery drones and super-hyped underground traffic tunnels tend to capture the imagination and the headlines. But new technologies are already transforming transportation in our daily lives. Several members of the Spielfeld community are at the forefront of this wave of innovation.
International logistics:
According to Spielfeld co-Founder Roland Berger, the road transportation sector has around 6.6 million medium and heavy-duty trucks on the road. In Europe, these trucks make up for one quarter of EU CO2 emissions. Spielfeld alumni Sennder works with drivers and carriers to optimize logistics to increase efficiency. The result: a reduction of both costs and emissions. Sennder is working to digitize and automate road logistics processes and leverages mobility data to operate a connected fleet of over 12,500 trucks. Sennder has been reported to be valued at over 1B and has secured partnerships with with Siemens, Scania, Michelin and Post Italiane.
Public transportation:
Spielfeld member MOTIONTAG uses commuter data points to help customers monitor transportation systems and operations in real-time. Their technology helps commuter service providers understand customer behavior, communicate with riders and make transportation systems more efficient and sustainable. MOTIONTAG’s technology has a variety of real-world applications and has already been utilized by organizations like Berlin’s BVG and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), and the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung.
Last-mile delivery:
Spielfeld’s newest member GetHenry is a fully serviced mobility solution for last-mile delivery and couriers. Inner city deliveries have boomed during the pandemic, and with strategic partnerships with Berlin delivery favorites Wolt, Lieferando and Gorillas, and GetHenry have grown and adapted to this trend. E-bike delivery fleets and shared mobility services can help ease the strain that personal automobiles can take on urban centers, and are a more sustainable alternative to traditional delivery vans.
