The key to a successful marketing strategy: SIMPLICITY!

Before beginning a new project, especially one on a subject you don’t know much about (such as a marketing strategy), most of us start by researching the topic. The more you know about it, the better. Once you have gathered all this knowledge, you can get to work. Problems arise when you want to apply all the information you accumulated into the product or service.
Let’s take a look at your marketing strategy. The more you read, the more you want to build on it and integrate:
- Quality content
- Compelling videos
- Engaging social media posts
- Interesting webinars
- Helpful workshops
- Fun online contests
- Live events
However, more is not necessarily better. Actually, the secret to a good strategy is simplicity!
The simpler it is, the easier it is to implement and the more accessible it is for the audience.
Remember, we usually have too many things to do, and often in a very short time period, so we need to make our lives easier, not create more work for ourselves.
The funny thing is if you start applying everything you read, your strategy will become inefficient. The secret is not in more, but in targeted! Always keep in mind:
- Why you are doing this,
- Who you are doing this for (your audience), and
- What you are promoting (your product or service).
Revisit your marketing strategy and see if the outlined ideas serve a purpose:
- Does the tone of voice and style you are using “talk” to your audience?
- Is your message in line with you and your company’s beliefs?
- Are you publishing your content (either blog posts or social media) on channels where your customers are?
If you answered “no” to any of the above questions, I challenge you to go back to the drawing board and start simplifying. Review each and every item and read through the questions again. Does it fit? I am sure a lot of things will be deleted.
Once you have done this, go over the plan once more. See what can be combined in order to be more efficient and save time.
Next, see how you can automate your work in order to increase productivity.
All this means: simplifying your work.
If the strategy is simple, your team members, as well as your clients, will better understand your business.
