A Hospital Story

My husband needed quadruple bypass surgery. While he was in the hospital, I was scared, so I drew.

I drew what I saw, and I took photos to draw from later.

Getting ready for surgery was super scary.

While Peter was in surgery, I did this drawing of his surgeon.

In a family e-mail thread during Peter’s surgery, cousin Bob said it felt like the family was holding Peter in a circle of love. I messed up Peter’s eyes, so I gave him heart-shaped shades.

I wish I could remember the name of our favorite nurse in the ICU. I only remember a surgeon describing her as a firecracker.
