In their landmark 2003 study, Eric Johnson and Daniel Goldstein uncovered that people choose to donate their organs upon death at wildly different rates based on the framing of the ask. When asked to opt-in to donate, 42% of people agreed. But, when asked to opt out of donation, this number shot up to 82%.

Simply by making the default to donate, nearly twice as many people took the pledge — saving countless lives.

Defaults are powerful. Spirals is excited to leverage this knowledge to fight the climate crisis with Remox, making green compensation the default for DAOs.

Through our collaboration, DAOs will be able to pay their contributors in green tokens, unleashing passive climate impact as the default. When a DAO decides to participate, their tokens for disbursement are staked with Spirals. The contributor then receives the green version of their disbursed token as payment.

Future collaborations will explore Green Treasuries — an opportunity for DAOs to make further passive climate impact by simply holding their assets in green token form.

What is Remox

Remox is building a web3 native solution to payroll & treasury management, simplifying finances for DAOs. Remox launched on Celo but will be available across all chains. They have mulit-wallet management, contributor management, payroll management, expense management, budgeting, and more.

What is Spirals

Spirals builds a community-funded, expertly advised climate funding ecosystem. To integrate with Spirals and contribute to the positive impact flywheel, you lock your token (ex CELO) in our Impact Vault, receiving a green version of it in return. This Green Token represents a 1:1 mapping to your original asset. These green tokens can be used across a growing number of dApps, all while continuously contributing to climate impact.
