We are all feeling a little bit low on love right now. The latest kick to the year is the break up of Bradgelina. Yes, the once #relationshipgoals Hollywood couple has called it quits and so we are left with the need to move on.

To help you with this disillusionment of love, we created the Spire Playlist, Meditate on Love. This playlist guides you through all of the stages of a romantic relationship, from the ecstatic honeymoon period, to steady, domestic love, to the heartbreak of ending a relationship, and discovering love again as individuals and not a part of a couple. Enjoy!

Queen — “Somebody to Love”

We start our romantic journey with the need to meet a person we can fall in love with. There is no better representation of this than Freddy Mercury singing his heart out, as always, in “Somebody to Love.”

Bright Eyes — “First Day of My Life”

Then we find someone and it feels like life before that person never even existed. We are born again as a person in love with a partner who loves you back. Bright Eye’s song “First Day of My Life” is the perfect song for this feeling of being reborn through love.

Beyoncé — “Crazy in Love”

So now we’re in love and the dopamine is rushing all through our system, so much so that it feels like your addicted to your partner. Or as Beyoncé calls it, you’re “Drunk in Love.”

Beach Boys — “God Only Knows”

But intense, passionate love is not a realistic love. A real love grows to understand that even when people fight or go through tough times, it doesn’t mean the people involved don’t love each other. It’s understanding that we can go on without the person we love, but we don’t really know who we will be without them. One of the best love songs every written is “God Only Knows” by The Beach Boys, because it is able to define all of these emotions through one song.

Arctic Monkeys — “Mardy Bum”

But even in the best of relationships, there are fights. They can be epic scale fights or tiny disagreements, like being late to an event. “Mardy Bum” by the Arctic Monkeys is a great song that illustrates the small arguments that we have in all relationships versus the happy domestic moments.

Joy Division — “Love Will Tear Us Apart Again”

Sometimes though, those small disagreements grow to resentment in love, with one or both partners not feeling happy in the relationship. We can still love someone, but if the relationship is dead, then its best for everyone to get out of the situation. It’s something that Ian Curtis contemplated a lot and was able to write a truly amazing song about with, “Love Will Tear Us Apart.”

Rilo Kiley — “Breakin’ Up”

When we get out of a bad relationship, it can be a complete sigh of relief. One of the best positive break up songs is Rilo Kiley’s “Breakin’ Up.” What better way to let go of a bad partner than to sing, “Oh, it feels good to be free!”

Smokey Robinson & The Miracles — “The Tracks of My Tears”

More often than not though, we are either lying to ourselves, or to those around us, if we say that we are ok and everything is fine after a break up. It’s not. Let Smokey Robinson’s amazing voice sing that pain for you through, “The Tracks of My Tears.”

Adele — “Someone Like You”

As with most things, time helps us heal and let go of the past so we can move forward. For this heartbreaking acceptance, we have Adele’s “Someone Like You” to listen to and find solace.

Nina Simone — “Feeling Good”

Then one day you wake up and Nina Simone is singing to you because you’re “Feeling Good.”

Ready to fall in love and do it all over again.
