SPIRIT ALCHEMY | PSYCHOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATION
Liminal Spaces
The key ingredient in psychological transformation?
Liminal spaces. This phrase has been rattling around in my brain for a week, so I did some research and connected some dots.
According to the Oxford dictionary, “liminal” is defined as:
1. occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold.
2. relating to a transitional or initial stage of a process.
A place of in-between
Liminal spaces are those in-between places, neither here nor there, where we find ourselves suspended between the past and the future. Places that feel haunting, eerie, and unsettling.
The phrase itself conjures up images of abandoned buildings, empty streets, and other desolate places that evoke a sense of unease. These spaces are often associated with transition and change, where we are forced to confront uncertainty and ambiguity.
This can be a scary and uncomfortable process.
