This One Belief Can Cause You Much Unhappiness

--

Difficult situations will always arise. But a wise Buddhist teaching can help you embrace life’s unpredictability.

Things don’t always go the way we want them to.

Life is often unpredictable. And it can be frustrating when things aren’t the way we think they should be. Some examples of situations that can cause you anger and frustration are:

· Your survival job is hard enough as it is. Then you have to work extra hours during the holidays because nobody else wants to do it. You’re exhausted beyond measure. You’re ready to collapse from all the hard work. And so angry that you have to be stuck with it; when the manager is allowing other people to take off at a time when more people are needed.

· You work so hard on your articles. Only to earn pennies, if anything at all. Earnings have tanked. It takes a long time to come up with ideas, and a long time to build an audience. You think it shouldn’t be as hard as it is.

· The engine light goes on in your car after you just paid $900 to get it fixed. Now you have to take it back. And you just don’t want to deal with it. It shouldn’t be this way.

These are all situations that can cause us frustration and unhappiness. Because we want the situation to be other than what it is.
