What Is Spirituality?

Spirituality is a belief in a Higher Power, who is worthy of reverend and awe. It is believed that THIS HIGHER POWER creates the world and everything in it and that mankind at the top of creation must recognise HIM, for a life of bliss and happiness. This Higher Power has many names alluded to Him by mankind, in various languages people speak in the world.

The Higher Power (God, Allah etc), manages the affairs of His creation by a set of Natural laws that work automatically, without prejudices and preferences on any within the Creation. By this, He does not have to be involved individually in the affairs of His Creation. There can therefore be no mistake because of the perfection of these laws.

The consequences of the Natural laws, once set in motion will take their course until the circle completes. That is when redemption or forgiveness takes place. This means mankind must suffer the consequences of his disobedience of THE NATURAL LAWS.

These Creation laws are PERFECT. This means, there is no need for any improvement, change or alteration. They stand forever and ever, and it is the creatures that must abide by them for their own bliss and happiness.

Animals and plants have the natural instinct that automatically obeys the laws of creation. They recognise that their survival depends on it. A sunflower for instance will continue to grow towards the sun, as it draws the energy to grow from the sun. Without the sun, it withers, and like all creature, it wants to live.

Animals in the wild, a lion, for example, only kill to fulfil hunger and sense danger and not for anything else. They do not gather or anxious about the future. They know that their needs will be satisfied as the needs arise.

The animals and plants have these natural instincts for the continued sustenance of creation. They all have such duties from the biggest animals like the elephant to the tiniest ones like ants. Their presence and duties on earth are significant. Their presence and duties are often undervalued by mankind, hence they are cruel to the animals unnecessarily.

Why Is Spirituality Important?

Mankind is the only creation with a will to be able to choose to obey the laws of creation. This need to choose is given to mankind instead of the natural instinct to automatically follow and obey these rules with animals and plants.

The choice, given to man by the Higher Power, therefore, demands responsibility. That responsibility is to further Creation and tends the garden on which man is placed. He, too, like other creations have significant duties, BUT HE MUST BE WILLING TO DO SO, that is, he must choose to do the right thing.

How then will man know to do the right thing? Man, on the other hand, are endowed with intuition. Intuition is the link that connects him with THIS HIGHER POWER, and it is for his guidance. He must ensure that he is awake to the guidance and direction of his intuition. The link must not be dormant in man. If this link is awakened, it connects man to all the help that is available in the Cosmos (both seen and unseen helpers). Man needs no religion to use his intuition.

What Then Is The Role Of Religion?

The way some organise to revere and worship the higher power is what we know as religions. Most religions have a set of rules that adherents must comply with. The religions are started by ā€˜ā€™THE CALLED ONES.ā€™ā€™ The called ones are ā€˜developedā€™ beings reincarnated on earth to further teach humanity the way of aligning with the Higher Power. They are also known as ā€˜ā€™Teachers of Menā€™ā€™, and they are born into each region of the world that they were to teach. That is the reason we have dominance of some religion in some particular part of the world.

These teachers also brought pure teachings, but along the way, distention arose, and some disciples of these called ones dilute the pure teachings, solely for their own gain. Such examples are found everywhere today, the jihadist and suicide bombers in Islamic Religion. The prosperity preachers of the Christian Faith etc. Their followers erroneously believe they are doing all the ā€˜rubbishā€™ for God. The fault is theirs alone and must suffer the consequences of disobedience to the Natural laws.

There are now thousand and one religions in the world, some as confusing as they are enlightening. However, a man can align with his intuition without religion, for God created man to listen to The Higher Power directly without an intermediary. Man needs no special temple to serve His God, nor preaching from some so-called teachers. In the bush, man and God may meet. That is why there is a lot of calm in nature. Nature is the language of God.

What Can We Do To Uphold Our Spirituality?

The intuition is there always to guide man. If something doesnā€™t feel right to you, be cautious. If the teaching of your Spiritual Masters gives you goose pimples, then it is time to leave the sect. You cannot serve God and Mammon. You must choose, and you have the capacity to do so.

The greatest test, therefore, is to work on oneself and to be better by the day.

Your spirituality involves interaction with others on earth. Both you and them, including animals and plants, have duties to nurture each other. Your responsibility is in day to day living.

The Takeaways

I want to leave you with the words of Don Miguel Ruiz

ā€œ1. Be Impeccable With Your Word
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Donā€™t Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to others' opinions and actions, you wonā€™t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Donā€™t Make Assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.ā€
