This story is the next chapter in the Chakra Series.
In the last part, we talked about the
- The basics of Chakra.
- Why do we need to learn Chakras?
- Their importance in our lives.
But let’s recap the last part quickly.
What Do We Know About Chakras
“Chakra” is a Sanskrit word for wheel. They represent a series of energy centers (known as prana in Sanskrit) within the body.
According to spirituality, everyone possesses a subtle body overlapping the physical one. It’s also called the “astral body” or the “metaphysical body.” All the chakras reside there. The quality of the subtle inner body (the chakras' health)defines our reality's quality.
These chakras are referred to as the “energy centers” because they govern our spiritual, emotional, and physical health. There are seven chakras in our bodies.
Here’s a more in-depth introduction about the seven Chakras:
In this story, I will share more details about the first chakra — The Root Chakra.
So, let’s get started.
Root Chakra 101
Root Chakra is the first of the seven chakras. It’s also known as Muladhara.
It’s red in color and located at the base of the spine. As its location suggests, it’s the foundation for opening all the other chakras sitting above.
The root chakra, therefore, governs the stability of our life. It regulates our physical survival by empowering us to accommodate food and shelter. Our attitude of “survival of the fittest,” our individuality concerns, safety protocols — all are because of this root chakra.
The root chakra is also responsible for our emotions like fear and a let-go attitude.
So, lacking in any of these physical or emotional requirements indicates that our root chakra is blocked or is non-functional.
Feelings associated with the Root chakra: Groundedness, belonging, trust, security.
Health Implications by a Blocked Root Chakra
The location of the chakra governs the physical organs within that area.
The Root Chakra controls our legs, bladder, vertebral column, kidneys, and adrenal gland. So, problems associated with these organs are likely to occur because of the non-functional Root chakra.
One may suffer from physical problems like hypertension, spine injuries, constipation, renal stones, kidney problems, Crohn’s disease, and many more, depending upon their blockage percentage.
Also, Root chakra, having associated with the ground, is also responsible for bones, joints, and muscles. As a result, the external defense system represented by the immune system is governed by this chakra.
On the emotional front, one may feel insecure about relationships and life, be fear without reasons, unjustified aggression, lack of self-pity, low willpower, lack of leadership abilities, and lack of courage to take the initiative.
But, the good part is — all the chakras can be healed and unblocked to enjoy the fruits of life.
The chakras get healed when it’s recharged by any external energy of the matching frequency. These energies can be found in nature or can be harnessed by some techniques.
Root Chakra Healing Foods
Food gives us the energy to do our daily activities. And every food has its own frequency of vibrations.
Don't you believe me?
According to Healthline, all the energies in the universe are in the form of vibrations.
Researchers have proved that these vibrations create electromagnetic waves. And when these energies enter our bodies, they cause changes in our cells and tissues and affect our body functions.
This is one of the reasons why we feel heavy after eating high carbs and high cholesterol foods.
So, to unblock the root chakra, we need to consume the right energy-food.
An online study suggests eating natural organic foods. Besides, we must incorporate proteins, minerals, red-colored vegetables, and root vegetables.
Since root chakra is associated with staying grounded, proteins help us in achieving that. Proteins strengthen the internal structure and have a grounding effect on the body.
Sources of protein: Lentils, tofu, cottage cheese, quinoa, nutritional yeast, hemp seed, green peas, spirulina, amaranth, soy milk, oats, wild rice, chia seeds, spinach, etc
Also, refrain from choosing animal-based protein because they have different vibrations that can make you feel heavier.
Choosing a diet rich in minerals will increase our stability and goes really well with the significance of root chakra (i.e., strength). Nuts, beans, and lentils are a good source of minerals.
3. Red Colored Fruits and Vegetables:
Due to the red color of the root chakra, fruits and vegetables like red apples, raspberries, beetroot, tomatoes, pomegranates, strawberries, etc., help balance the Root chakra.
4. Root Vegetables:
Root vegetables growing below the ground impart a significant amount of Vitamin C, antioxidants, and beta-carotene, and so they aid in staying grounded. Roots like sweet potatoes, carrots, turnips, garlic, rutabaga, ginger are some of the foods that give excellent results.
Root Chakra Healing Stones/Crystals
Just like food, stones and crystals also have vibrational energies.
Though there aren’t enough scientific facts to prove this point, people have been using stones for ages.
Ancient Egyptians used crystalline stones for healing and protection against the evil eye, while the Indian sacred scriptures explain various gemstones' healing capabilities.
Also, a lot of Chinese medicine uses crystals to treat illnesses. Not only that, the ancient Greeks and the Romans too used crystals during the battle as medicinal treatments.
We can use the following gemstones to heal the root chakra:
- Smokey quartz
- Hematite etc.
These gemstones can be incorporated into ornaments like earrings, necklaces, pendants, etc. Not only do they look stylish and elegant, but they heal the Root chakra without making any extra effort.
P.S: Some people call these gemstones Voodo or Tantra magic, but it’s not. Let’s spare nature!
Root Chakra Healing Hand Mudra and Chants
I have been following these Hand mudra steps for balancing my Root chakra:
- Try to sit in a relaxed position.
- Let the tips of your thumb and the index finger touch with all the other fingers relaxed. Here’s the Yogic Mudra picture to explain this step.
3. Try to concentrate on the root chakra at the spot between your genitals and the anus.
4. Slowly Chant the sound “L-A-M.”
Root Chakra Healing Yoga Postures
Yoga not only makes your physical body flexible but also aid in aligning your chakras.
Here are a few Yogasanas that you can practice:
- Malasana — Squat Pose
- Padmasana — Lotus Pose
- Sirsasana — Head to Knee Pose
- Pavanamuktasana — Kee to Chest pose
Root Chakra Healing Meditation
If you’re a spiritual person, you can also use a meditative commentary:
- Try to visualize the red photon rays of the Almighty falling over you.
- See yourself within the red-colored aura of light.
- Now slowly feel that you are getting charged with the spiritual powers.
- Try to feel the red light emanating from you and spreading in all directions.
- Experience yourself within a cocoon of red light.
Root Chakra Healing Affirmations
You can choose affirmations according to your physical and emotional condition.
However, here’s a list of my affirmations that helped me heal my Root Chakra.
- I am a divine soul.
- I am free from all the doubts and fears.
- I am the embodiment of powers that make me fearless.
- I feel safe and secure under the canopy of divine Almighty’s powers.
- I am free from all the burdens of life.
- I feel confident because divine powers are within me.
- I am worthy of success, happiness, and peace.
- I love myself and my life.
- I am filled with an abundance of “XXX” (Choose whatever works best for you. i.e, wealth, good health, happiness, love, etc.)
- My emotional condition is independent of any external stimuli.
Time is an important aspect that makes the affirmations work for you. Choose a time when your mind is relaxed. There shouldn't be any internal resistance.
I have realized that the best time for affirming is just after waking up and before going to sleep. It is the time when the subconscious mind is active. And according to the law of manifestation, affirmations work only when it penetrates the subconscious mind.
Sometimes, science doesn't have all the answers to our mental and physical problems. So, we must experiment with spirituality.
But remember one thing- these healing methods work only if you believe in them. Faith is an essential aspect of achieving anything. Doing something half-heartedly or just because someone advises to do so — won’t work with the chakra healing.
I used this Root chakra knowledge and healing techniques when doubts, fears, struggles, and insecurities engulfed me. And my spiritual experiment reminded me of my infinite powers.
If you have any more ways of healing the Root chakra, I'd love to hear them.
Stay tuned for the next one in which I will talk about the “Sacral Chakra” — its health associations, healing techniques, and meditative commentary for strengthening it.
