The Jansen Brothers are here to assure you in the future of cinema. One sequel at a time.

Because when you really think about it, some of your favorite movies are sequels. And there’s no shame in that. If a character is so endearing, and a world so entrancing, why would you not want to spend more time with that lovable lug in that magical dreamscape.

We will be thoughtfully looking at the fascinating and
difficult choices that need to be made in approaching material for a second time. Choices to retain and further what you know and love.

And soon, you will feel that way about the Spiritual Sequel

This podcast may be right for you, if you are afflicted with any of the following:

Overwhelmed with a bad case of Sequelitis? Feeling numb from Franchise Fatigue?

Have you opened up to your psychologist lately that you feel like you’re in a Sequel Slump?

Spiritual Sequel is the cure.

The most original Podcast on Sequels

Spiritual Sequel is already being hailed as the Best new podcast. We assume. We’re not privy to people’s private conversations or inner thoughts. But ostensibly, people are raving about it, preemptively. Imagine how much they will like it once they actually hear it.

And when they do, they will be greeted to a lively discussion on why “the Best”, “Top Five”, and even simply being “better than what came before” are such endlessly fascinating collective obsessions. Why do we keep ourselves preoccupied with such subjective notions?

The Brothers Jansen will get to the bottom of it. And in the process, produce a Top 5 podcast sure to be on any Best of list.FAQ

FAQ

What’s the podcast about?

Seemingly every movie that gets released these days is part of a broader universe, series, or franchise. Spiritual Sequel may not be part of
a broader podcast diaspora, but the Jansen Brothers are here to reassure you in the future of cinema.

We are the healing remedy for any outbreak of sequelitis, sequel slump, or franchise fatigue.

Difference vs. countless other film podcasts?

Simply put, brothers. You’ve heard colleagues talk shop, you’ve even heard friends. But as brothers, we bring a unique dynamic to the podcasting platform. Talking films together for the better part of 20 years, ranting and raving about movies was our favorite pastime. Cut from the same cloth, but with wholly unique identities all our own; who better to talk sequels than the human incarnation of a franchise — family.

Malcolm Gladwell says, you need 10,000 hours to develop elite skills. With a lifetime together at the movies, we surpassed that six Mission:Impossibles ago.

Having been nicknamed ‘Human IMDB’ and Human IMDB Pro,’ our lifelong fascination with the cinema will add context and perspective to films you love and some you love to hate.

And as creators ourselves, and the sons of two artists, we bring a critical yet kind lens. We enjoy discussing the business decisions in play just as much as the creative decisions because art without commerce is unseen art.

Do we only see sequels, spinoffs, reboots, & remakes?

Well Yes, naturally, that’s all that’s available anymore.

But more sincerely put, as much as we love them and defend their honor,
our perspective is to give all art a chance. Whether it cost $200K to make or $200 Mil. Whether its made for an esoteric arthouse crowd, Comicon, or general audiences, we will be there.

What if I don’t go to the movies?

Even better. We are here to fill you in, so the next time you are amongst
friends or coworkers and someone brings up the latest big budget extravaganza, you will have a witty take on it, even though you never saw it.
