A Leap Without A Safety Net

Who knows when this free fall will end?

When I let you go I had no safety net.
No ardent lover waiting in the wings.

Instead I held my breath, and with a prayer
plunged headfirst off the cliff.

For a while I was terrified
and cursed my honest heart.
