As I look back on my life
I tried to be the best I could be
In each of my roles:

Obedient child
Good student
Reliable friend
Diligent worker
Supportive husband
Responsible parent
Active researcher
Knowledgeable teacher
Effective administrator

My purpose has always been
Make a contribution in every role
Leave people better off
When I finish, compared to before.

When I depart
I hope the universe agrees
I did the same with
My life and work.
