From Dull to Dawn

Poetry

Photo by Emmanuel Maceda on Unsplash

When shadows lean on the valley’s meadow —

to stretch across the vista wide —

and the day dips behind those clouds of dreary black,

nature rolls her blanket hill-bound.

But always — even after torrents —

the sky breaks into sun to soak away the gloom,

and casts light where murk and solemn fell nocturnal,

sweeping dull to dawn in bright pastures.
