Spiritual Tree

A Spiritual Poem

Sometimes memory
is kind to us
and helps us forget
what we do not
want to remember.
We learn to bury
the pain so deep
that even God can
not retrieve it.
And yet, sometimes
our memory fails
us and we spend
our time repeating
the event over and
over until we make
ourselves sick with
anguish and even
God will not forgive
us. I listen to my heart
and wait for your return.
