Inspired by the beginning of the new year a trend that’s taking off right now is ‘learn something new’.

Search interest on YouTube for those looking to pick up a new skill, further their education or build more seriously on an existing talent is increasing to its peak in the next week or two.

Content springing up on the social media platform includes how to learn a new language, study tips videos and advice on learning a new skill every month.

Such content shows that in addition to looking for inspiration on what to learn in 2018, people are also interested in the best ways and learning techniques to keep up their initial momentum.

Creators are catching the wave too. Expect more education and skill development content in the next few weeks.

For example, muchelleb shares 20 learning resolutions for 2018, including how to make a toast, how to sew and how to meditate. The video has already collected more than 128k views and 134 comments and fits perfectly into the trend. The video was also sponsored by online learning community Skillshare and incorporated a giveaway/free trial.

Or this tips video on how to learn a new language by creator Zoey Arielle, which has nearly 3k views and 62 comments.

If we look at last year’s Google Trends data, we can see that searches on YouTube related to learning had several peaks throughout the early stages of the year but one of the most notable was in the third week of January.

It is likely this trend well repeat itself this January, although with more content to meet the demand as creators are more weary of this interest and those who managed to get appropriate videos uploaded in time to see the best results create an increased amount of content this year to outperform their previous efforts.

Countries the search interest has been highest in over the past 12 months according to Google Trends was India, followed by the UK, the US and Canada.
