The PM’s response was lame. Were the allegations to be found true, he would not have to resign since he would rightly be removed from office, perhaps (though unlikely) jailed.

The accusation of Team Anna against the PM, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee & 13 other ministers of corruption & its demand for a probe by a Special Investigation Team caused a flurry of rhetoric.

It is troubling that Prashant Bhushan walked back his statement. Worse, fellow Team Anna member Justice (retired) Santosh Hegde said “such language” should to be used against a PM!

Is not the PM mortal!?!

Are not elected/appointed politicians to be accountable!?!

Should the presumed leader of a government not be held responsible for the malfeasance of his ministers!?

With the Parliament having so many members that are charge-sheeted for serious crimes & the executive branch’s dubious record of misbehavior, India’s democracy is at risk of being a sham.
