Where do good things come from?

There is a wonderful talk by Andrew Humphries on ‘The History of Liberalism’ delivered in the World Conference on Market Liberalisation in Bali earlier this year. Andrew previously worked with CCS Academy as a Programs Associate.

Andrew’s main thesis is that all the good things we enjoy today; and all the developments in the last couple centuries — from the revolution in telecommunications, better health to the advances in science and technology, are in some way related to the spread of the ideas of liberty. He goes on to elaborate on his thesis — talking about the shift in values and culture that allowed for liberty to shape the modern world.

What do you think? Do you agree with his thesis? Has liberty shaped the modern world, at least in part? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!
